Seeking solutions for an elevated and exposed backyard in Needham, Massachusetts, our clients came to Dex by Terra seeking a unique, bright, luxury outdoor living area that could seamlessly transition between a durable daytime play space for their children, and a lavish locale for evening gatherings with friends and business partners. In addition, the client requested a grill station where they could enhance their passion for cuisine.

To achieve the brilliant, opulent atmosphere that our clients sought, the Dex team proposed an expansive patio crafted with natural, white marble pavers. The patio would be surrounded by low retaining walls, creating separation from the upper yard. A tiered stone staircase with built-in step lights would grant access to the upper part of the property, while a gas fireplace and grill station would anchor zones for relaxation, food preparation, and dining.

Construction commenced and the barren backyard soon became a brilliant, sturdy environment for any occasion. The newly hardscaped space was further enhanced by Dex’s in-house landscape lighting and horticulture teams, who added integrated, low-voltage, LED outdoor lighting, and a broad variety of flowering plants, grasses, and shrubs throughout the property. The result was the outdoor living space of our client’s dreams. A sunny, versatile, high-end extension of their home that could be enjoyed well into the night.
